Cultural, Art & Design Project Management

KATHERINE ZSOLT & ASSOCIATES INC.,

Over a 20 year period oversaw the design, production and
installation of 21 permanent sculptural/ architectural art
installations for corporate clients and hospital foundation
boards. The corporate projects attempted to marry corporate
identities, art and architecture - creating a sense of place
for building users. Hospital projects focused on creating
environments within the building that were uplifting or calming.
Development of donor recognition systems and gift lines were
also core to the hospital projects.

1991-97
OL ONANA PROJECT, Kenya, East Africa
and Arizona State University
The primary researcher and Kenyan liaison for a proposed
project to aid Gillies Turle in the develop of a Maasai Cultural
Center in the Ngong Hills. Initially worked on the periphery of
the project refining and developing an earth-cast concrete
construction system. At the Maasai community’s request
became involved in photo and video cultural documentation.
Coordinated the cultural preservation and exchange
aspects of the project and design of project web site.
(Development was done under the supervision of
Arizona State University’s - Herbarium; Language Labs;
and Architecture. Building design was to Engineering;
IT Lab; Educational Media; Anthropology
have been under the supervision of Paolo Soleri.)
Later became the project’s liaison to the Kenyan
and Maasai Museums, Green Town Projects, the Kenyan
Catholic Maasai schools, local and international NGO’s,
and the grass root Maasai women’s groups and elders.
Project was halted due to difficult political climate.

1985-95
FRASER AVENUE STUDIOS INCORPORATED,
Toronto, Cananda
Co-partnered, with Mario Noviello, in creating a viable
art community out of a 100 year old warehouse in
Duffrin/King street district. Gutted the 17,000 sq. ft.
building to its shell and transformed the interior into
16 working artists' studios. Leased and ran the project
for 10 years. As of Sept 1/2205 the project is still running.
My direct involvement ended 1995.

l994-95
FACILITIES PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION,
Arizona State University, Tempe
ADA representative from M.Arch 3plus program,
designed accessibility alterations, and was a key member
of sign committee for new Exterior ADA signs for the entire
ASU Tempe Campus. Co- partnered the research, re-design
and documentation of signage recommendations that
are presently in place.

1991-93
AROCSANTI & COSANTI, Phoenix, Arizona
Invited to research silt/concrete casting systems for
application in large sculpture, and to develop new
educational workshops. Coordinated and taught:
tile making, sculpture, silt cast concrete construction
and architectural model workshops. Students were both
local and international and ranged from grade school
children to Elderhostel - were often teachers and
students of architecture and sculpture. Researched
and redesigned a silt packing process for construction
of vaulted ceilings. Also worked as part of the concrete
construction crew that built the vaults in the East
Crescent, using this new system.

1978-81
CLAY CONCEPTIONS, Toronto, Canada
A four year partnership with Nina Czegledy, nine
permanent ceramic architectural/art installations
were jointly designed and executed. Personally
responsible for fabrication and installation systems,
and both glaze and materials research and development.

“Gentling” work with abused mustangs.
White Sands Mustang Campaign - graphic design and
poster work & organized fundraising riding clinics

1997-98 BLAZING SADDLES, CAVE CREEK, Arizona
Assisted with a riding program for “at risk children” from the
Phoenix area. Also aided in working out, retraining and
maintaining horses for classes.

1994-97 ICEHOUSE, PHOENIX, Arizona
Assisted with photographic documentation of art installations.
Graphic design work for the Milk Fund, a non-profit set up to
support the arts in education with inner city children.

1992 CESO/KENYA
(CANADIAN EXECUTIVE SERVICES ORGANIZATION)
A four month private sector project in Nairobi slums with the
Muugano women's group -upgrading product quality, color
theory, reintroduced traditional African designs into
decorative patterns and helped design innovative purse
styles using classical African forms and weaving techniques.
